Thanks guys. Good job to Kev, Danny, and Jaquie who all ran too. Hopefully next year we'll get an even bigger group to go down and run it, it was really fun.

Edit: And those of you that know him might like to know, Greg Kiley (formerly of Saratoga, now of Notre Dame bandited the race and would have finished behind me, but somewhere in the top 31. Me and him ran pretty much the whole thing together until the last mile.

yeah, flint, you pointed out one of the lesser accomplishments there... 2nd in age group. lets get some perspective.
3 years ago when i first did this race, the winner finished the year ranked #1 in the world for road racing by Running Times magazine. this race is a huge deal. not only did steve finish 2nd in his age group, he finished second only to an ethiopian. he was 26th overall, out of 10,800 something. he was the 10th (11th?) American in a field that included Hanson-Brooks standout Clint Verran (2:14 marathon) among others. he beat kelsey, kiley, and gruenewald, and finished very close to shamus ("seamus" for this race, apparently). he ran 5:14 pace for 9.3 miles!!! that would be like a 25:30 8k (adjusted for distance), on road, sure, but in JULY!!!
there, i'm done. steve are you blushing yet? i'm just absolutely amazed. this is potential pro stuff, man. Hanson-Brooks has your name all over it.

I'm pretty happy with the race myself...I just wish Ken Little had been there so I could have finally beaten him, haha. (And yes, I actually used Ken's name there, it's not a swear blocker.)
