Great, uphills. My favorite. Here's the link to that elevation chart Sean mentioned: www.adirondackrunners.com/Dist%20Run%20Info%20B%202005.pdf The begining dosn't look to fun, but that big downhill section around 3.5 miles looks nice, except you have to go back up again... Jamie, how extreme would you say the climbs are? I mean I can see the elevation change and all, but do they feel nice and gradual or are there actually big monster hills during the race? Its all on roads right?

this is long, but if youre planning on racing, you shoudl read it all.
going completely off memory (not looking at an elevation chart):
first 3-4 miles are definitely the hilliest, but theyre not that bad since its the beginning of the race. after you get to that highest peak of the race (mile 4?) you start feeling really good about yourself. you come through mile 5 in 31:30 feelin great, ready to do it again. but then you hit mile 7. thats the most difficult hill of the race. it hurts like hell. anyway, once you get to the top of that, you're basically saying ouch, but theres only a 5k left. so you push it hard and see the 9 mile mark. oh wow, almost there. but wait. another hill at mile 9. enjoy that one you fool. shouldve waited longer for your kick.
last mile is all flat and on the sidewalk right through bolton landing. great spectator action there.
its really not that hard if you run smart. i would suggest driving the course once though before you run it. check it out for yourself.
(drive all the way down canada st. past LGHS. then bear right onto Rte. 9N. Follow 9N all the way into bolton landing until Veterans Memorial Park. The end.

Cmon, you guys wont even feel the hills if you do the mountain runs with me. I do them about 3 times a week when training starts.

easy killer. kenyan marathoners dont even do tempos like that. you really shouldnt exceed a 20 minute tempo run when training for a 10 miler, and you shouldnt even be training for the 10 miler.

Tom, correct me if Im wrong, but I think he meant that he would maybe start the race off at training pace and then pick it up into tempo pace. Thats what I thought he meant anyway. And of course none of us will be training for this run, it will be only our 3rd day of Cross Country training so we should all be good and out of shape.

We need another person with a car to race so we can park one car at the end the drive back to the start.

We need another person with a car to race so we can park one car at the end the drive back to the start. What? You don't want to do an easy 10 mile cool down after the race? What the hells wrong with you man, suck it up!!! Edit: The above statements were ment to be taken with a sarcastic tone.

I am with jared, the training says 70-75 that day, so we should be hitting almost 14 miles to 15 miles by teh time warm ups and cool downs are completed.

Jer, I was being Sarcastic. Of course we are not going to run the ten miles back to the start after the 10 mile race, that would be over 20 miles!!! That would just be stupid.

they have shuttles. after you finish you can wait for a bus to take you back to the start.

yea, but you could leave stuff in someones car. Plus I don't think the shuttle stops for ice cream on the way back.
