I don't care who owns it, they aren't cutting our trails to put up f**king baseball fields. Now obviously I'm biased in this matter cause I want to keep our trails. But in general, even if I wasn't a runner and never used Potter Woods I would still be fully against this cause I mean, it's f**king trees, woods, nature. We have to preserve some of that Steve Soprano or before you know it our town will be the next Albany.

If they even think about trying we'll protest, sign petitions, tape ourselves to trees, break bulldozers during the night. Whatever the f**k it takes. They arn't touching Potter. WHY the f**k do they think they need more baseball fields anyway? There's plenty at the f**king school!!! I won't stand for this. because the school wants to take back the land the little league fields are on to build sheds or something. which means the baseball league needs a new place to go. even though they just built a huge f**king dome with like seven baseball fields in it.

My parents are moving as soon as I graduate, because queensbury is getting so f**king rediculous. do they not realize that the reason so many people move here is because they want to get away from the city? www.queensbury.net/OS/Appendix%20G%20Design%20Workshop%20Summary.pdfPg. 4, under hydrography (it's a little outdated maybe, from 2003) www.queensbury.net/PORCMinutes/7-13-06%20Meeting%20Packet.pdf"GF Watershed Conservation Area" Keyword conservation?- p2 "Conserved areas could be managed by a homeowners association, which could ideally allow for public access... These may or may not all for public access, but will require the land remain undeveloped. Important lands can be deeded to the town for preservation and public enjoyment" Plus some stuff on/after p17 p99- Long Term Goal: Examine and plan other ways to make halfway brook an important natural amenity; expand the network of non-vehicular trails and connections by embracing the rush pond trail system under development and exploring other options for trails www.queensbury.net/OS/Queensbury%20Vision.pdfSo there.

Great documents. I went to the site and looked through the rest of them (took awhile). I think most of them are from around 1998. In one of them they say this about the local woods (not just Potter Woods)
"Annexation of this land has been proposed by Glens Falls. The issue is unresolved at this time."
In one of them the land is in a "protection zone" but not federally owned they they can change it as they see fit. Whether they will dare to go through with it I don't know. But you got a point they are just getting worse and worse by the day. Someone should knock some sense into them.

Steve i agree. i was extremely pissed when i read the article in the post star, those woods are our neigborhood, i want to email the little league comissioner and tell him how wrong his great idea is, all the little new jersey families that move here evry year need to pack their bags and go back to the city, becuase houses are gonig up everywhere, first they started with the building of kings court behind my house, then they built that house on the old smitty trail, then the aprtments on west mtn road, its rediculous. I bet if we sent someone down to new york city and told them that lake george was drained and the great escape was closed because of SARS outbreak they would all stay away

ok, the land is owned by glens falls, it is being rented out to the tree farm company, it is all watershed property. In order for it to be turned into baseball fields it would all have to go through glens falls the town of queensbury would only have to give the ok for traffic issues. Now in order for fields to get built the queensbury youth basball/softball commisioner would have to work in accordane with gf. It would have to meet tons of regulations to make sure the watershed area is remained intact. GF cannont legally f**k up their watershed, itd be endangering thier own citizens kinda deal. Regardless for this to move forward a significant amount of money would have to be put forth to even think about, not saying thats not possible there are tons of old people that love baseball that do Steve Soprano like that, but it probably wont happen fast, which would give us time to react. I plan on talkin to john strough next week about it to make sure i have the process down, because i will legally fight this if possible. and ps, i go to all the town board mtgs so ill keep you updated if things happen.

I just find it interesting that in the entire documents they talk about all the parks, baseball, soccer fields, ect. but nowhere do they ever even talk about putting in trails for runners (mabye a track type piece) but never about forest trails or a long pathway like in Central Park. What, have they not gone to our school and looked at our trophies and other awards and said, "WOW! HEY GUYS!!! Count up the total number of sport awards and compare it to the cross country awards, funny isn't it." Our team is the one that makes the paper and I don't think we got that by just running on our trails. Who wants to bet that their next "project" is clearing out Crandall Park to put up a Curling rink for all the "real athletes"
