Nothing, just needed to pick on one uncommon sport while talking about how they're picking on our's ("funny isn't it?"). But then again everything is from point of view.
But instead of sitting around (not XC style). I vote something more sensible, like I don't know a list of signatures for the creation of more trails and preservation of watershed areas and old "trail" systems. Or we could just make a XC army and kill them all (we may need the army for next year when we are AA to attack Shen and the other schools and hope we knock out enough to drop them to A or B)

Ya, a petition sounds good if it comes to that, but I don't even care about making new trails, I'd love to, but it's not crucial. I'd just be pissed if they take away the ones we have.

It would be nice to see something new for a change, we only really have about 3 trail systems (ours, Potter woods, and Crandall). I think I can say that they're good but after running them so much the thought of having to do it once more could make you want to put a gun to your foot just to avoid it. They can't manage to knock down a few trees for the areas most practiced sport. Even a large portion of adults in the area still run on a regular basis and they still can't make the effort?

Ok I would love to have new trails put in as well but I don't feel we need to. I mean yeah we only have 3 trail systems but there's like 5 sub trails that we can go on in Potter, our back trails have the girls trails (ones past rush pond) as well as the normal ones, and we still have coles after that. Besides do you know how many teams would love to have even one of our trail systems. So I don't feel we should do something to get more trails put in. The towns time and our tax money should go to something of more importance. But that something is in no way destroying Potter woods.

Well said, and point well taken. All the same it never hurts to want or dream. Gives one something to work for and keeps on feeling alive. In any case I'am not saying the focus should be anywhere but with preservation (where it should be), to maintain what "little" we have, as where our attention should be.

coming from a place with no trails at all, this place is unreal, we have upper and lower potter, coles woods, the state course, the trail system behind the state course which is rarely used, and the butler pond resovior and extending system, this is quite honestly probably one of the better areas in the country. and i agree a petition would be extremely appropriate if required. and as for tonights town board mtg, it was not mentioned

yeah we really should start exploring beyond butler pond...it seems like there is an enormous network of trails up there...yeah that is definately off topic

First of all, ya we have some of the best trails I've seen. You don't get much better than us anywhere. I mean, I'd love to have more, but you can't be greedy and besides, it's not like we have that much more woods to put new trail systems in.
But Mark, seems like a good place to mention it. There are a lot of trails that even those of us who have been running for 5+ years haven't explored. There are all the trails out by Girl's Trail (such as the Agony Trails) which we really don't know. There are trails on top of West Mountain too (going up Butler Pond). When we're doing high mileage this summer (especially us alums who will be hitting lots of 80-100+ weeks) we should take some long days to go out and explore, find some new routes. I can speak from experience from this winter break when I was doing pretty high mileage here, our trails, while there might be a lot of them, arn't very long. So if you want to get in at least 10miles a day you're going to have to do the same loop over and over again. I can't even tell you how many times I did Coles to Rabbit or Rabbit to Smitty...basically it was one of those loops every day with maybe adding on behind the school for some extra. It got old fast, especially when I was running alone.

the van dousen perserve has a trail, its new so its not very well cleared and its actually shorter than the buttler pond road but you can add on to it using the snow mobile trails that go all they way to west mt like what kevin said.
The girls trails to lehland estates isn't that long unless you do a bunch of loops around the trail, straight its about 3 miles out.
